BUDA, Texas (KJCE) -- Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in the July death of a Buda man, officials announced Thursday.

Hays County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 200 block of Brandon's Way just after 7:45 a.m. on July 26. Inside the residence, deputies found 36-year old Brandon Lamont Fontenette of Austin deceased with traumatic injuries.

After an investigation, 38-year old Mark James Stevens and 38-year old Jeanette Lauralee Stevens have been charged with first-degree murder. Officials say that following a physical altercation in the home, Fontenette had been stabbed once and shot multiple times with a BB gun around 4:00 a.m. that morning. He died from his wounds, officials said, with no one providing any kind of medical attention.

Investigators say multiple witness interviews, search warrants, and forensic evidence contradicts the scenario of events relayed by the suspects, leading to their arrest. Both are in the Hays County Jail with a bond set at $250,000 each.
