ABIA expecting busy week for Austin's F1 race

United States Grand Prix is October 20-22

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is getting ready for a rush of passengers in two weeks, as the United States Grand Prix comes to the city.

The race, set for the weekend of October 20-22, is expected to bring more flights and more passengers to ABIA. Airport officials say they're prepared with extra customer service representatives, and an extra Austin touch - special music performances to welcome fans and send them on their way after the race.

Officials say passengers are advised to be in the terminal two hours before their scheduled departure time. The busiest days will be Sunday evening, October 22, and Monday, October 23, as passengers depart following the race.

In addition to new air service, charter flights are also expected - arrivals from the F1 Japanese Grand Prix and departures headed towards the next race, the F1 Grand Premio De Mexico in Mexico City.
