AUSTIN ( -- It's early August in Central Texas, and that means one thing - the forecast is a broken record.

All of the Austin area will be under a Heat Advisory again Friday afternoon, beginning at noon and lasting until 8 p.m. Friday evening. Forecast temperatures are expected to reach 104 degrees; humidity values will push the heat index, or "feels like" temperature, to between 108 and 112 degrees.

On Wednesday, Austin-Travis County EMS says its medics responded to 11 incidents involving heat-related complaints.

Here are some of the ways you can stay cool and prevent heat-related illnesses:

  • Plan strenuous outdoor activities during the early morning or late evening.
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Wear light weight, loose fitting, and light colored clothing
  • Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
  • Young children and pets should NEVER be left unattended in parked vehicles under any circumstances. Vehicle interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

High temperatures at or above 100 degrees are forecast through at least next Wednesday.
