AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- One person is dead and another injured after an early morning shootout in central Austin.

Police were called to the 500 block of East Highland Mall Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, on a "shots fired" call. As officers headed towards the scene, multiple calls started to come in, reporting a large amount of gunfire.

When police arrived, they found a group of people attempting to flee the scene. Shell casings were all over the parking lot, and a vehicle had been shot up.

Investigators believe the shooting happened between two groups of people who were partying at the complex. A woman who was shot in the leg was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries; police say a man later showed up at the hospital, where he died a short time later.

No suspects are in custody, and police say their investigation is ongoing.
