AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin's airport is seeing some of its passenger traffic return as coronavirus restrictions ease across the country, but passenger trends still remain well below the record highs the airport is used to seeing.

Total passenger traffic for July 2020 was down 75.3% compared to July 2019, with 406,065 passengers traveling through the airport.

Although it's the third straight monthly increase after passenger traffic bottomed out in April as coronavirus restrictions took hold, it's far off the airport's record high set last July when 1.64 million passnegers moved through ABIA's gates.

For the year-to-date, total passengers are off 58.6% compared to last year, with 4.1 million passengers passing through ABIA this year.

Cargo traffic continues to increase, with total shipments for July 2020 up 37.3% over last year. That's despite international air cargo still being virtually idle, down almost 99% year-to-year.
