AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin health officials are sounding an alarm after the number of active COVID-19 cases reached their highest point in three months Wednesday.

As of Wednesday's report, Austin Public Health says there are 1,034 active cases of COVID-19 in Travis County, the highest that number has been since August 15.

More than half of those who have been testing positive through APH's test sites have been adults between the ages of 20 and 39.

Officials are concerned that recent Halloween parties and gatherings, including a crowded scene on 6th Street, may be contributing to the spread of the virus. Anyone who attended a gathering outside of their household this past weekend is encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 this week.

More information on testing can be found at the city's website at www.austintexas.gov/covid19 or by calling 512-972-5560.
