Austin metro among top 10 most educated in America

AUSTIN ( -- Austin is among the country's most educated metro areas, according to a new study.

The study, released by WalletHub, compared 11 key metrics for 150 metro areas across the country. The data set ranges from share of adults aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher to racial education gap to quality of the public-school system.

The Austin metro ranked 9th overall. Digging into the data, Austin ranked 10th in percentage of bachelor's degree holders, 13th in percentage of associate's degree or college-experienced adults, 12th in quality of public schools, and 20th in quality of universities.

Elsewhere in Texas, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex ranked 71st, Houston ranked 90th, and San Antonio ranked 106th. Ann Arbor, MI, topped the list, with San Jose, CA, Washington, D.C., Durham-Chapel Hill, N.C., and Madison, WI, rounding out the top five.
