AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The City of Austin says it will close park facilities and park amenities in response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

Parks and facilities were already set to be closed this weekend for the July 4 holiday.

The indefinite closure includes all park amenities (volleyball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, disc golf courses, and other items except for restrooms and water fountains) as well as facilities previously reopened such as cultural facilities, pools, golf courses, tennis facilities, and park concessions.

The Barton Creek and Bull Creek greenbelts will also remain closed.

Other city parks and trails will remain open, as long as residents continue to maintain social distancing and wearing face coverings. Park rangers will continue to patrol parks and help educate park uses for voluntary compliance.
