AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Officials are investigating a body found in Lake Austin Monday afternoon, just southwest of Loop 360 and the Pennybacker Bridge along Rivercrest Drive.

Crews reported the discovery from the 3600 block of Rivercrest around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, after a 9-1-1 caller reported seeing a body floating in the lake. Austin-Travis County EMS medics pronounced a male in his 20s deceased.

Kristen Dark with the Travis County Sheriff's Office says the medical examiner's office will work to identify the body, along with a cause of death. At this point, officials say it's too early to know if foul play can be ruled out or not. It's also too early to know if the body is that of 25-year old Christopher White, who was reported missing nearby on Saturday.

White, who is from Minneapolis and was in town to attend the Austin City Limits music festival, was last seen Saturday at a vacation rental home close to the site of Monday's recovered body. Crews spent much of Sunday and Monday searching the nearby area for any sign of White, but had so far come up empty handed.
