AUSITN (KJCE) -- The driver of a Cap Metro bus that struck and killed a cyclist in January has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Police say 40-year old Mindy Stafford is facing manslaughter charges after the January 28 incident on the University of Texas campus, at San Jacinto and East 23rd.

39-year old Anthony Diaz was riding his bicycle northbound on San Jacinto, close to the curb in angled parking spaces where no bus stop exists. The bus being driven by Stafford drifted into the parking spaces.

Police say passengers on the bus told Stafford that she was about to hit Diaz.

Stafford remained at the scene following the crash, submitted to drug and alcohol tests, and cooperated with the investigation.

Cap Metro officials released the following statement:

Capital Metro was made aware of the arrest and continues to cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation of the January 28 crash. Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Tony Diaz.

Stafford's bond was set at $80,000.
