CEDAR PARK (KJCE) -- Two suspects involved in at least one pawn shop burglary in Cedar Park were arrested late Monday night, officials said.

Cedar Park Police responded to an alarm call at the Cash America Pawn at 510 S. Bell Boulevard just before 10 p.m. Monday night. When officers arrived, they found the store's front glass door smashed and discovered a lock on the gate leading to the area behind the business had been cut. All of the breakers in the electrical box had also been turned off. Officers also noticed a shoe print in the back near a smashed-open side door.

While officers were on scene at Cash America Pawn, other officers were checking other pawn shops in the city. When officers pulled up to the Action Pawn store at 2419 S. Bell Boulevard, two males took off running behind the business and into the nearby neighborhood. Officers established a perimeter and searched the area with the assistance of an Austin Police Department helicopter.

After about an hour, a K9 officer located one of the subjects and detained him. He has been identified as 23-year old Christwell Mathes. Police say that after questioning, Mathes admitted to being at the Cash America Pawn earlier. Mathes was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot, Burglary of a Building and already had two outstanding warrants.

The second individual was found a short time later by another K9 officer. He has been identified as 23-year old Elijah Johnson. Police say Johnson admitted to the burglary at Cash America Pawn, and the shoes that Johnson was wearing matched the shoe print found at the scene. Johnson was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot and Burglary of a Building.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
