City of Austin to close parks, trails for Easter weekend

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- City of Austin parks and trails will close during the Easter weekend to help stop the spread of COVID-19, officials announced Tuesday.

The closures will begin at sunset Thursday and last thorugh sunrise on Monday, April 13.

The closure includes all city parks, trails, greenbelts, and preserves, including the Roy and Ann Butler Hike and Bike Trail.

Parks and Recreation officials say they typically see an increase in visitors during the Easter weekend. Signage, gate closures, and patrols will be in place to remind residents of the closures.
