COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 1: 222 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from across Central Texas, for August 1:

Travis County: 222 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Saturday by Austin Public Health, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 20,967, with 276 deaths. An estimated 18,637 cases have recovered, leaving 2,054 active cases - a decrease of 125 from Friday.

321 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - a decrease of 17 from Friday - with 119 patients in intensive care and 87 on ventilators.

41 new admissions were reported Saturday, with the 7-day moving average of new admissions down slightly to 37.

Williamson County: No new data was reported Saturday by Williamson County. As of Friday, there were 5,715 confirmed cases with 76 deaths, 4,982 recoveries and 559 active cases. 69 patients were hospitalized, with 39 in intensive care and 21 on ventilators.

Hays County: Hays County has stopped reporting data on weekends. As of Friday, there were 4,315 confirmed cases with 28 deaths and 2,861 active cases. 26 patients were hospitalized.

Bastrop County: 7 new cases were reported by DSHS Saturday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,296. 839 cases are estimated to be recovered, with 18 deaths, leaving 439 active cases - a decrease of 57 from Friday.

Caldwell County: 6 new cases were reported by DSHS Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,070. 718 cases are estimated to be recovered, with 23 deaths, leaving 329 active cases - a decrease of 37 from Friday.

State of Texas: 9,539 new cases were reported Saturday across the state, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 430,485. 268 new fatalities were reported Saturday, bringing the total number of deaths statewide to 6,837. 8,969 hospitalizations were reported across the state, a decrease of 367 from Friday.
