COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 11: 296 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Here are the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials from across Central Texas, for August 11:

Travis County: 296 new cases and 4 new deaths were reported Tuesday by Austin Public Health. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 23,249 with 307 deaths. An estimated 21,871 cases have recovered, leaving 1,071 active cases - a decrease of 9 from Monday.

279 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, an increase of 8 from Monday - with 98 in intensive care and 75 on ventilators.

46 new admissions were reported Tuesday, with the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations now at 34.

Williamson County: 118 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Tuesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,011 with 95 deaths. 1,279 cases are estimated to be active - an increase of 71 from Monday. 76 patients are hospitalized in just Williamson County, an increase of 6 from Monday, with 30 in intensive care and 18 on ventilators.

Hays County: 16 new cases were reported Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,066 with 35 deaths. 2,295 cases have recovered, leaving 2,736 active cases - a decrease of 51 from Monday. 19 patients are hospitalized - a decrease of 1 from Monday.

Bastrop County: 10 new cases were reported Tuesday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,365 with 21 deaths. 

Caldwell County: 9 new cases were reported Tuesday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,158 with 26 deaths.

State of Texas: 8,913 new cases were reported Tuesday, along with 890 cases from a backlog in Nueces County. Those new cases pushed the statewide total over the 500,000 mark to 500,620 confirmed cases. 220 new fatalities were reported Tuesday, bringing the statewide death total to 8,710. Hospitalizations across the state continue to improve, with 7,216 patients currently in Texas hospitals.
