AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Here are the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials from across Central Texas, for August 12:

Travis County: 172 new cases and 6 new deaths were reported Wednesday by Austin Public Health, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 23,421 with 313 deaths. An estimated 22,069 cases have recovered, leaving 1,039 active cases - a decrease of 32 from Tuesday.

275 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, a decrease of 4 from Tuesday - with 98 in intensive care and 65 on ventilators.

38 new hospital admissions were reported Wednesday, with the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations now at 33.

Williamson County: 64 new cases and 3 new deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,075 with 98 deaths. 1,291 cases are estimated to be active - an increase of 12 from Tuesday. 79 patients are hospitalized in just Williamson County, an increase of 3 from Tuesday, with 33 in intensive care and 17 on ventilators.

Hays County: 17 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 5,083 with 37 deaths. 2,346 cases have recovered, leaving 2,700 active cases - a decrease of 36 from Tuesday. 18 patients are hospitalized - a decrease of 1 from Tuesday.

Bastrop County: 25 new cases and 1 new death were reported Wednesday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,390 with 22 deaths.

Caldwell County: 5 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Wednesday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,163 with 28 deaths.

State of Texas: 6,200 new cases were reported Wednesday across the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 506,820. 324 new fatalities were reported, bringing the total to 9,034 deaths. The 7-day positivity rate continues to set record highs, now up to 24.5%. Hospitalizations across the state continue to decrease, down to 7,028 - a decrease of 188 from Tuesday.
