COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 2: Travis County tops 21,000 cases

AUSTIN ( -- Here are the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for August 2:

Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 247 new cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths Sunday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases above the 21,000 mark to 21,214 and 276 deaths. An estimated 18,875 cases have recovered, leaving 2,063 active cases - an increase of 9 from Saturday.

307 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - a decrease of 14 from Saturday - with 119 in intensive care and 81 on ventilators.

26 new admissions were reported Saturday, with the 7-day moving average of new admissions down again to 36.

Williamson County: No new data was reported Sunday by Williamson County. As of Friday, there were 5,715 confirmed cases with 76 deaths, 4,982 recoveries and 559 active cases. 69 patients were hospitalized, with 39 in intensive care and 21 on ventilators.

Hays County: Hays County has stopped reporting data on weekends. As of Friday, there were 4,315 confirmed cases with 28 deaths and 2,861 active cases. 26 patients were hospitalized.

Bastrop County: Due to a DSHS software upgrade, no new data was available Sunday. As of Saturday, Bastrop County had 1,296 confirmed cases and 18 deaths. There were 839 recovered cases and 439 active cases.

Caldwell County: Due to a DSHS software upgrade, no new data was available Sunday. As of Saturday, Caldwell County had 1,070 confirmed cases and 23 deaths. There were 718 recovered cases and 329 active cases.

State of Texas: No new data was available Sunday due to a DSHS software upgrade. Sunday's data is expected to be made available with Monday's update. As of Saturday, there were 430,485 total cases, 6,837 deaths, and 8,969 hospitalizations across the state.
