COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 27: 122 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for August 27:

Travis County: 122 new cases and 3 new deaths were reported Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 26,239 with 374 deaths. Recoveries have topped the 25,000 mark, with 25,079 cases now estimated to be recovered. That leaves 786 active cases - a decrease of 9 from Wednesday.

159 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, with 58 in intensive care and 37 on ventilators.

25 new hospital admissions were reported Thursday, with the 7-day moving average now at 19.

Williamson County: 47 new cases and 4 new deaths were reported Thursday, for a total of 7,867 confirmed cases with 119 deaths. 248 cases are estimated to be active - a decrease of 9 from Wednesday - with 72 patients hospitalized.

Hays County: 18 new cases were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,340 with 46 deaths. 2,916 cases have recovered, leaving 2,378 active cases - a decrease of 1 from Wednesday. Hospitalizations are holding steady at 17.

Bastrop County: 10 new cases were reported by DSHS on Thursday, for a total of 1,571 cases with 25 deaths.

Caldwell County: 4 new cases were reported by DSHS on Thursday, for a total of 1,230 cases with 32 deaths.

State of Texas: 5,059 new cases were reported Thursday, along with 541 backlogged cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases across the state to 597,737. 265 new deaths were reported, bringing the fatality total above the 12,000 mark to 12,070. Hospitalizations across the state continue to decline, falling by 317 to 4,489 as of Thursday.
