COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 3: 335 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from across Central Texas, for August 3:

Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 335 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 new deaths on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 21,549 and 285 deaths. An estimated 19,266 cases have recovered, leaving 1,998 active cases - a decrease of 65 from Sunday.

310 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - an increase of 3 from Sunday - with 114 in intensive care and 75 on ventilators.

36 new admissions were reported Monday, with the 7-day moving average of new admissions up slightly to 37.

Williamson County: A total of 117 new cases and four new deaths were reported Monday - 66 on Saturday, 12 on Sunday, and 39 today - bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,832 with 80 deaths. 5,207 cases are estimated to be recovered, leaving 545 active cases - a decrease of 14 from Friday. 61 patients are hospitalized, with 26 in intensive care and 23 on ventilators.

Hays County: 26 new COVID-19 cases were reported Monday, along with a batch of results from mobile testing operations conducted by DSHS. That brings the total number of confirmed Hays County cases to 4,893. One new death was reported, bringing the total to 29. 1,980 cases have recovered, leaving 2,884 active cases - an increase of 23 from Friday's report. 23 patients are currently hospitalized.

Bastrop County: No new cases were reported by DSHS on Monday, with a total of 1,296 confirmed cases and 18 deaths. 879 cases have recovered, leaving 399 active cases - a decrease of 40 from Saturday.

Caldwell County: 1 new cases was reported by DSHS on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,071 with 23 deaths. 731 cases have recovered, leaving 317 active cases - a decrease of 12 from Saturday.

State of Texas: 5,839 new cases were reported Monday, along with 6,226 cases from Sunday - bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 442,014. A total of 179 new deaths were reported Monday, bringing the statewide death count to 7,016. Across the state, a total of 8,819 Texans were hospitalized, a decrease of 150 from Saturday's report.
