COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 7: 224 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials from across Central Texas, for August 7:

Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 224 new cases and 7 new deaths Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 22,480 with 295 deaths. Recoveries are now at 20,874, leaving 1,311 active cases - a decrease of 132 from Thursday.

279 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - a decrease of 18 from Thursday - with 105 in intensive care and 74 on ventilators.

24 new hospital admissions were reported Friday, bringing the 7-day moving average of new admissions down to 35.

Williamson County: 187 new cases and 4 new deaths were reported Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,245 with 90 deaths. 668 cases are estimated to be active, an increase of 165 from Thursday. 52 patients are hospitalized in just Williamson County, with 24 in intensive care and 18 on ventilators.

Hays County: 23 new cases were reported Friday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,012 with 34 deaths. 2,175 cases have recovered, leaving 2,803 active cases - a decreas of 26 from Thursday. 15 patients are hospitalized, a decrease of 1 from Thursday.

Bastrop County: 6 new cases and 1 new death were reported Friday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,350 with 21 deaths. 971 cases have recovered, leaving 358 active cases - a decrease of 38 from Thursday.

Caldwell County: 4 new cases were reported Friday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,122 with 26 deaths. 834 cases have recovered, leaving 262 active cases - a decrease of 25 from Thursday.

State of Texas: 7,039 new cases were reported Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 474,524. 293 new fatalities reported Friday pushed Texas over the 8,000 deaths mark, to 8,096. A total of 8,065 patients are hospitalized across the state, down 237 from Thursday.
