COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 9: 122 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials from across Central Texas, for August 9:

Travis County: 122 new cases were reported Sunday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 22,724 with 298 deaths. An estimated 21,307 cases have recovered, leaving 1,119 active cases - a decrease of 40 from Saturday.

278 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - an increase of 3 from Saturday - with 98 in intensive care and 77 on ventilators.

28 new hospital admissions were reported Sunday, with the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations now at 35.

Bastrop County: 5 new cases were reported Sunday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,363 with 21 deaths.

Caldwell County: 9 new cases were reported Sunday by DSHS, bringing the total number of cases to 1,145 with 26 deaths.

Hays and Williamson Counties have stopped reporting data on weekends. Their next update will be available on Monday.

State of Texas: 4,879 new cases were reported Sunday, bringing the total number of statewide cases to 486,362. 116 new fatalities were reported Sunday, for a total of 8,459 statewide deaths. 7,437 hospitalizations were reported across the state, a decrease of 435 from Saturday.
