COVID-19 By The Numbers, July 2: 5 new deaths, 571 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Here are the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for July 2:

Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 571 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 10,695. 5 new deaths were also reported, for a total of 133. There are 2,977 active cases, an increase of 78 from Wednesday.

A total of 415 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, an increase of 39 from Wednesday, with 145 in intensive care and 70 on ventilators. 71 new admissions were reported Thursday, bringing the 7-day moving average of new admissions to 58.3.

Williamson County: 49 new cases were reported Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,388. 1,342 cases are active with 957 recoveries and 39 deaths. 107 patients are hospitalized, an increase of 9 from Wednesday, with 32 in intensive care and 12 on a ventilator.

Hays County: 126 new cases were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,050. 2,549 of those are considered to be active, with 494 recoveries and 7 deaths. 18 patients are hospitalized, an increase of 1 from Wednesday.

Bastrop County: No new data was reported Thursday. As of Wednesday, Bastrop County has 442 confirmed cases with 156 recoveries and 6 deaths.

Caldwell County: DSHS reported 31 new cases Thursday, bringing the total to 377 cases.

State of Texas: 7,915 new cases Thursday pushed the statewide total to 175,977, with 44 new deaths bringing the total to 2,525 fatalities across the state. Hospitalizations continue to rise, with 478 new patients reported Thursday for a total of 7,382 across the state.
