COVID-19 By The Numbers, July 28: 232 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from across Central Texas, for July 28:

Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 232 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, along with 3 new deaths. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 19,952, with 255 deaths. An estimated 17,398 cases have recovered, leaving 2,299 active cases - a decrease of 100 from Monday.

370 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - a decrease of 20 from Monday - with 133 patients in intensive care and 97 on ventilators.

38 new admissions were reported Tuesday, bringing the 7-day moving average of new admissions to 44.3.

Williamson County: 67 new cases and 1 new death were reported Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,433 with 100 deaths. 4,780 cases are estimated to be recovered, with 553 active cases - a decrease of 34 from Monday.

Hays County: 42 new cases were reported Tuesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,245 with 25 deaths. There are 2,969 active cases - a decrease of 31 from Monday. 23 patients are hospitalized, a decrease of 1 from Monday.

Bastrop County: 74 new cases were reported by DSHS Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,269. 655 cases are estimated to be recovered, with 17 deaths, leaving 597 active cases - an increase of 71 from Monday.

Caldwell County: 44 new cases were reported by DSHS Tuesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,043. 587 cases are estimated to be recovered, with 19 deaths, leaving 437 active cases - an increase of 32 from Monday.

State of Texas: 8,341 new cases were reported across the state Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 394,265. 164 new deaths were reported Tuesday, for a total of 5,877.

Hospitalization data continues to be incomplete, with 91 percent of hospitals reporting complete data on Tuesday. That incomplete dataset shows a total of 9,593 Texans hospitalized across the state.
