COVID-19 By The Numbers, July 5: Travis County adds 548 new cases

AUSTIN ( -- We're continuing to follow the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials, for July 5:

Travis County: 548 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday, along with one new death. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 11,679, with 137 deaths. 8,460 of the cases are considered to be recovered, leaving 3,082 active cases - an increase of 362 from Saturday.

446 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, an increase of 12 from Saturday. 137 patients are in intensive care and 72 are on ventilators. 59 new admissions were reported Sunday, bringing the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations down slightly to 61.6.

Williamson County: No new data was reported Sunday in Williamson County. As of the last update on Friday, there were 2,469 confirmed cases, of which 1,390 were active with 972 recoveries and 42 deaths. 102 patients are hospitalized with 32 in intensive care and 11 on ventilators.

Hays County: 21 new cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,088.

Bastrop County: No new data was reported Sunday. DSHS reports a total of 468 confirmed cases.

Caldwell County: According to DSHS data, Caldwell County has a total of 437 confirmed cases.

State of Texas: 3,449 new cases were reported Sunday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 195,239. 29 new deaths were reported, bringing the total to 2,637. Statewide hospitalizations continue to grow, crossing over the 8,000 mark to 8,181 - an increase of 291 from Saturday.
