COVID-19 By The Numbers, July 9: 703 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Here are the latest updates from local health officials on the coronavirus, for July 9:

Travis County: 703 new cases were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 13,864. 10,314 of those are recovered with 159 deaths, leaving 3,391 active cases - an increase of 226 from Wednesday.

440 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area - a decrease of 18 from Wednesday. 132 of those are in intensive care and 91 are on ventilators.

66 new admissions were reported on Thursday, with the 7-day moving average of new admissions decreasing to 71.6.

Williamson County: 2 more deaths were reported on Thursday, pushing the death toll in Williamson County to 50. A male in his 50s and a male in his 70s are the latest to die from the disease. 175 new cases were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,617.

Hays County: 81 new cases were reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 3,409. 2,792 of those are active - an increase of 71 from Wednesday - with 606 recoveries and 11 deaths. 20 patients are hospitalized, the same as Wednesday.

Bastrop County: 35 new cases were reported Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 625. Another new death was reported, for a total of 8, with 160 recoveries.

Caldwell County: 41 new cases were reported by DSHS on Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 580.

State of Texas: 9,782 new cases were reported on Thursdsy across the state, for a statewide total of 230,346. 105 new deaths were reported, a new record, for a total of 2,918 fatalities. 79 new patients were hospitalized across the state, for a total of 9,689 patients in Texas hospitals.
