DALLAS (Talk1370.com) -- Dallas County will be under a stay-at-home order beginning late Monday night and continuing until April 3.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins issued the order Sunday afternoon, starting at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

So far, the county has reported three deaths and 131 cases.

Per the order, "all individuals currently living within Dallas County are ordered to shelter at their place of residence" and "all businesses operating within Dallas County, except Essential Businesses...are required to cease all activities at facilities located within the County."

Sunday afternoon, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott resisted calls for a statewide shelter-in-place order, saying what works for a more urban part of the state may not work for a more rural area. Abbott said local jurisdictions had the authority and the tools to enact stricter restrictions if their local situation warrants.
