Deadly crash on SH 130 near Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Texas ( -- One person is dead after a fatal crash along State Highway 130 Wednesday morning.

Georgetown Police said the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, in the southbound lanes of SH 130 just south of Highway 29.

According to police reports, one vehicle was involved. The vehicle was said to be traveling close to 100 mph, before the driver attempted to pass another car on the left-hand shoulder. The vehicle lost control and left the highway, traveled onto the frontage road, and ended up upside down in a ditch. Three people were ejected from the vehicle, while two other passengers remained trapped inside.

One of the victims ejected from the vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene; the four other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals. All five of the passengers were from the Garland area.
