Early voting begins for area municipal, school elections

AUSTN (Talk1370.com) -- Early voting is underway for May 4 municipal and school elections across the area.

The City of Austin isn't holding an election, but a number of school bonds are being put before voters:

  • Hutto ISD: $194 million for a new middle school and district-wide campus improvements
  • Eanes ISD: $80 million for a new aquatics facility and student programs, and three school board seats
  • Luling ISD: $31.9 million for a new elementary school and other facility improvements
  • Prairie Lea ISD: $8 million for a new high school and renovations to existing elementary campuses
  • Blanco ISD: $1.35 million for maintenance, safety, and athletics facility improvements

In addition to the school bonds, a number of area cities will be holding municipal elections. Round Rock, Leander, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Hutto, Liberty Hill, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Kyle, Bastrop, Taylor, Smithville, Florence, Elgin, and Lakeway will all be electing one or more council seats.
