Heat advisory in effect for parts of Austin, Central Texas Tuesday afternoon

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A Heat Advisory is in effect Tuesday afternoon for parts of Austin and surrounding counties east of Interstate 35.

The National Weather Service says the advisory, in effect from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Heat index values are expected to rise to near 110 degrees, with air temperatures expected in the upper 90s and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

Officials say the combination of high temperatures and humidity could quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke for those working or spending time outside. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
