AUSTIN (KJCE) - The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Austin area Saturday afternoon.

The Austin area could see some of the hottest temperatures in four years. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 104, but the mercury will likely climb even higher than that. The record high for today sits at 105, set back in 1995.

Even more importantly, the heat index will soar to near 110 degrees. If you have to spend time outdoors this afternoon, stay hydrated and drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade or in the air conditioning, and limit strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening hours.

Officials also remind you to never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a couple of minutes... remember to look before you lock!
