Heat wave, heat advisory continue Thursday afternoon

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Our triple-digit heat wave continues Thursday, with some potential relief continuing to be on the horizon early next week.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 1pm Thursday afternoon until 7pm Saturday...

Temperatures will again soar into the mid 100s Thursday afternoon, with highs around 105. Winds will be out of the south, 10 to 15 mph. Heat index values could reach up to 110 degrees, so take heat precautions and limit strenuous outdoor activities.

Temperatures will gradually fall into the mid 70s in the overnight hours with clear skies.

Here's a look at the extended forecast - which includes a chance of rain and a break in the heat wave early next week.

FRIDAY...Sunny. Highs around 106. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT...Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Highest heat index readings up to 105 early before midnight.

SATURDAY...Mostly sunny. Highs around 104. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 70s.

SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT...Mostly clear. Highs around 105. Lows in the mid 70s.

MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs around 100. Lows in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY...Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 90s.

TUESDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 70s.

WEDNESDAY...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 90s.
