Heavy rains set to bring possible flash flooding, severe weather

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7PM; Flash Flood Watch until midnight

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Possibly heavy rainfall and even a chance of severe weather are in the forecast for much of Wednesday, forecasters say.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until midnight Thursday for Travis, Williamson, and Hays Counties.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7PM for Bastrop, and Caldwell Counties.

The combination of a powerful upper-level storm, a slow-moving cold front, and lots of Gulf moisture will bring widespread 1-3" rainfall totals to the area, with isolated spots of up to 6" possible.

The Storm Prediction Center has put all of Central Texas under a slight risk for severe weather Wednesday. While conditions aren't favorable for tornadoes, there is a small risk for strong winds and large hail with some of these storms.
