Heavy rains, severe storms possible later this week

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- After a weekend respite from heavy rains and severe weather, chances are building in the forecast for the rest of the week.

The Storm Prediction Center has all of Central Texas under a marginal risk for severe weather Tuesday. An isolated shower or small thunderstorm can't be ruled out, but the bulk of the activity will remain to our west near Del Rio.

Wednesday, the target moves closer to Austin, with most of Travis County, part of Bastrop County, and all of Williamson County under an "enhanced" risk - the third of five levels. The rest of our area is under a slight risk. Strong winds, large hail, and heavy rains are the biggest threats with these storms.

A slow-moving cold front is expected to drop into the area on Thursday, reducing the chances for severe weather but setting up a chance for heavy rains depending on where the front stalls out. Rain chances will continue into Friday and Saturday as the front continues to impact our weather pattern.
