SAN ANTONIO (KJCE) -- A man is in custody after admitting to starting a fire at Congressman Lloyd Doggett's San Antonio office, officials say.

Police say crews arrived at the scene in downtown San Antonio around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. The suspect was seen jumping over a fence; once taken into custody, he admitted to police officers that he started the fire.

San Antonio police say the suspect is a homeless man, believed to be in his 30s.

Crews put out the fire along a fence and near a utility room. Officials say the fire almost made it to the roof of the building. Damages are reported to be minimal.
