More than 96,000 ballots cast in Travis County as final hour of voting began Tuesday

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- As expected, high voter turnout continued on Election Day across Travis County and much of Central Texas.

Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said more than 96,000 voters had checked in to polling locations across the county as of 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

To compare, for the 2016 presidential election, some 95,641 voters had checked in leading into the 6 p.m. hour.

In Williamson County, officials say about 20,000 ballots had been cast as of 1:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

More than 372,000 ballots were cast during early voting in Travis County.

Votes were still being tabulated as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, when roughly 86 percent of the polling locations had reported and more than 92,000 ballots had been cast.
