BASTROP COUNTY (KJCE) -- Four people are dead following a crash north of Bastrop late Sunday morning.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials say they responded around 11:30 a.m. to State Highway 95 near Old McDade Road, north of the Bastrop city limits.

Investigators say a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup was headed northbound on SH 95 when they hydroplaned into the southbound lane, striking a 1996 Honda.

Four people in the Honda died at the scene, including the driver. A child from the Honda was airlifted to Dell Children's Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the pickup was injured and transported to a nearby hospital, and is reportedly in stable condition.

Officials say roads were wet at the time of the crash. SH 95 remained partially closed as crews continued to investigate the crash and clear the scene; one lane of traffic was being allowed to pass, in alternating directions.
