AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- With floodgate operations continuing across the Highland Lakes and runoff from heavy rains still pushing through, Austin Fire Chief Joel Baker issued a new waterway ban Sunday afternoon.

The ban, which goes into effect immediately and remains in effect until noon Wednesday, affects the following areas:

  • Lady Bird Lake
  • Mansfield Dam, downstream to Commons Ford Park
  • Walsh Boat Landing to Tom Miller Dam

The ban impacts all commercial, navigational, and recreational use of the affected areas. There is an exception for motorized commercial watercraft 40 feet or longer on Lake Austin, between the Walsh Boat Landing and Loop 360.
