Officials investigating attempted arson at North Austin Muslim center

AUSTIN ( -- Authorities are searching for a suspect in connection to an attempted arson incident at the North Austin Muslim Community Center early Tuesday.

After reviewing video surveillance, officials say they're looking for a white or Hispanic male, approximately 6' and 160 pounds. He was wearing a Nike sweatshirt with a black hoodie to conceal his face, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. His vehicle is described as a white or light colored Ford F-150 or similar vehicle, although no clear photos were obtained of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS. The FBI and ATF are assisting the Austin Fire Department with their investigation.

Officials say the suspect, at minimum, faces attempted arson charges - a second-degree felony.
