Oltorf exit on Southbound I-35 to shift northward

Closure delayed from Monday night due to weather

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Changes are coming to Interstate 35 at Oltorf Street, with the southbound exit moving further northward.

The Texas Department of Transportation says southbound Exit 232A was originally scheduled to close permanently Monday night at 10 p.m., but has now been delayed due to inclement weather conditions. Officials have not indicated when the work will be rescheduled.

Once the ramp closes, southbound traffic looking to reach Oltorf will use the Woodland Avenue exit, which will change from Exit 232B to Exit 232, and proceed straight through the Woodland intersection.

Officials say the ramp improvements made as a part of the Oltorf project are expected to reduce crashses in the area by 20 percent.

The $42.6 million Oltorf project is expected to be completed in mid-2019, weather permitting.
