One dead after vehicle crash in south Austin

AUSTIN ( -- One person is dead after a vehicle landed in a creek near Intersate 35 Wednesday morning.

Austin-Travis County EMS reported the call just after 7:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of the South Interstate 35 southbound frontage road, just south of Woodland Avenue. Police say the crash may have happened overnight, and was discovered after sunrise.

The vehicle involved was a Ford pickup truck.

Police say the driver, described only as a white adult male, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The vehicle drove along the shoulder of the road before going down into the creekbed, which is about 10 feet below the frontage road.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who might have any information, is asked to call Austin Police.
