AUSTIN (KJCE) -- After breaking records all weekend, Central Texas will face one more day of record-breaking heat before a chance of relief Tuesday.

Today's high is forecast to be 107 degrees, easily the hottest day so far. An Excessive Heat Warning continues until 7pm tonight.

Forecasters say the persistent ridge of high pressure that has been pushing the temperatures upward will move towards the west on Tuesday, allowing temperatures to drop by as much as 5-10 degrees and bringing in a slight chance for rain.

An Excessive Heat Warning means a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
