Pedestrian hit, killed on I-35 early Tuesday

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed trying to cross Interstate 35 early Tuesday morning.

Austin Police say the vehicle struck the man, described by Austin-Travis County EMS as being in his 40s, just before 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-35 near East Cesar Chavez Street. EMS transported the man to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries; he later died from his injuries.

I-35 re-opened to traffic around 5 a.m. The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
