AUSTIN (KJCE) -- A suspect in a weekend homicide in south Austin has been arrested, police say.

Austin Police say the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Jessica Romero today. Romero was being sought in connection with an apparent armed robbery in south Austin early Sunday morning.

Police say Romero, along with two other suspects, attacked 34-year old Benito Luna Vargas in the 1200 block of Southport Drive around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found Vargas beaten and unconscious; he died a short time later at South Austin Medical Center.

Romero had been facing aggravated robbery charges; police say all three suspects may face capital murder charges due to Vargas' death.

Police continue searching for the two other suspects. One is described as a Hispanic male, late 40s, heavyset; the other is a Hispanic female, late 20s, also heavyset. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the remaining two suspects. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS.
