Police identify 15-year old killed trying to cross Interstate 35

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have identified a 15-year old killed while trying to cross Interstate 35 over the weekend.

Police say 15-year old Cesar Saunders was attempting to cross the interstate in the 14000 block near the northbound Wells Branch Parkway exit ramp just before 11 p.m. Saturday. A driver traveling northbound struck Saunders.

According to police, the driver was transported to a nearby hospital and was later placed in intensive care. Saunders was transported and later died from his injuries at 1:14 a.m. Sunday morning.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call APD's Vehicular Homicide Unit at (512) 974-5594. The crash marks the city's 32nd traffic fatality of 2019.
