Police identify motorcyclist killed in fatal accident Monday night

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin Police have identified the victim killed as a result of a traffic accident Monday night on the city's southeast side.

Police say 26-year old Brandon Thomas Buentello was driving his white 1989 Honda motorcycle southbound in the 7600 block of Bluff Springs Road around 10:15 p.m. Monday evening. A blue Toyota Prius was traveling the opposite direction, attempting to turn left into a convenience store parking lot; the driver of the Prius turned in front of Buentello.

Buentello was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. No charges are pending against the driver of the Prius, based on the preliminary investigation.

This is Austin’s thirty-fourth fatal traffic crash of 2018, resulting in thirty-five fatalities this year. At this time in 2017, there were thirty-two fatal traffic crashes and thirty-four traffic fatalities.
