AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have identified the victim in a deadly hit-and-run accident in north Austin last Friday.

Police say 23-year old Leon Salmeron was driving southbound in the 8200 block of Research Boulevard's frontage road when the driver of a gray Honda Accord tried to exit from The Park at Crestview Apartments, failing to yield the right-of-way.

The two vehicles collided, sending Salmeron's Ford F-150 into a concrete support column for the elevated section of Highway 183.

Salmeron was pronounced deceased on the scene; the driver of the Honda, who has not yet been identified, fled the scene on foot. Charges for failure to stop and render aid are pending for that individual.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at (512) 974-4424.
