Police investigating homicide in south Austin

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Austin Police say they are investigating an apparent homicide in south Austin Sunday night.

Police say the incident happened in the 500 block of East Stassney Lane, between Interstate 35 and Congress Avenue, at the Griffis SoCo Austin apartments.

Offcers arrived and found a man reportedly in his 20s with significant trauma to his body. It was not immediately clear if the injury was a gunshot wound or a stab wound; 911 received several calls from the area with some reporting gun shots. Austin-Travis County EMS medics performed CPR and transported the man to South Austin Medical Center, where he later died.

At this time there is no description of the suspect available, but police continue to investigate. They believe it is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
