AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Community leaders and downtown business owners will come together Tuesday night in a public forum set to discuss recent changes to city ordinances meant to decriminalize homelessness.

The Downtown Austin Alliance is hosting the forum, which is set to begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Presbyterian Church. Organizers say the event is already at capacity, with hundreds expected to attend.

For those unable to attend, organizers say an audio recording of the event will be made available online.

The forum comes just weeks after City Council voted to amend the city's camping and sit-lie ordinances, making camping, sitting, and lying in most public areas legal as of July 1.

The panel will include Austin Police Chief Brian Manley, the city's Interim Homeless Strategy Officer, Veronica Briseño, and Bill Brice of the Downtown Austin Alliance. Attendees will be given the opportunity to submit written questions for the panel.
