The election season is getting very catty.

A family in Atlanta was shocked to receive a voter registration application for a deceased member of their household -- their cat Cody Tims.

Ron and Carol Tims received the correspondence earlier this week addressed to their precious late feline Cody, who passed away 12 years ago, according to Fox 5 in Atlanta.

"We have a voter registration application for Cody Tims! How did this happen? It's not reality, he's a cat and he's been dead for a long time," said Carol.

Now the mailing error has the couple wondering what other creatures are being recruited to vote in this year’s contentious November presidential election.

"There's a huge push but if they're trying to register cats, I'm not sure who else they're trying to register,” Carol added.  “I'm not sure if they're trying to register dogs, mice, snakes.”

The Georgia Secretary of State's Office issued a statement denying responsibility for sending the application and said third parties often use mailing lists to get the names and addresses of people.

"Third-party groups all over the country are targeting Georgia to help register qualified individuals. This group makes you wonder what these out-of-town activists are really doing. Make no mistake about it, this office is dedicated to investigating all types of fraud,” read the statement.

The Tims described Cody as a “great cat, indoor and outdoor,” who passed away at 18.

And if Cody were alive and able to make it to the polls there’s no question how the kitty would vote.  He was a “Democat,” the couple revealed to the outlet.
