These 2020-inspired Halloween decorations are perhaps the 'scariest' of all

If you’re looking for spooky Halloween inspiration, look no further than 2020 itself.

One homeowner in Nashville, Tennessee is going viral online because he decked out his house in decorations inspired by a year plagued by the coronavirus pandemic, job loss, and a controversial presidential election.

The decorations on James Walsh’s lawn are pretty self-explanatory and summarize the year as a whole

He started by putting the number “2020” on the front of his yard along with a sign that reads: "It was the scariest thing I could think of ..."

"I had scrap wood laying around so I decided to put it to good use," he explained to “Good Morning America” when asked about his vision.

"And I'm kind of known for cheesy dad jokes so I figured why not put one literally on my lawn," he added.

The artist and designer for Handy Dandy Productions revealed that this is the first time he decorated his own home. Usually, his time is consumed decorating homes for clients, but this year, a tornado destroyed his studio and COVID shut down his business for several months.

"I've been self-employed for about six years and having my baby kind of stall out overnight and have to pivot was really hard," he said. "And I've had lots of family health issues so it was just a hard year."

Walsh told the outlet he hopes the art installation is a light during the dark times.

"I just hope that no matter what happens to people, that they're able to laugh at things," he explained.
