Rare July cold front set to bring cooler temps, showers

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- After a relatively mild summer so far, Austin's recent streak of 100-degree days is coming to an end.

After likely topping the 100-degree mark for a seventh straight day at Camp Mabry on Monday, a rare mid-summer cold front will push through the area early Tuesday, dropping temperatures some 10 degrees and bringing a chance for showers to the area.

Morning lows could break records both Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Once rain chances pass early Tuesday morning, temperatures for the rest of the week will stay in the lower 90s. Winds will stay from the north all the way through Thursday, before southerly winds return Friday with heat, humidity, and Gulf moisture over the weekend.
